Our Activities
Our activities are focused on those which encourage involvement and participation from members of the community with the aim of encouraging neighbourliness and the fostering of positive community relationships.
We also focus on keeping our neighbourhood a pleasant place to live by caring for our surrounding environment eg planting flowerbeds with seasonal planting.

Caring for our Environment

One of the Association’s aims is to seek to maintain the village as a pleasant environment for everyone to appreciate.
This involves undertaking a range of ‘maintenance’ tasks ourselves and working with the Parks and Leisure department at Kirklees Council.
Over the years, we have planted over 10,000 bulbs in Sugden Park and around the village. We also undertake most of the upkeep and planting of our flower beds. We installed and plant-up the trough on Upper Lane and the ‘stone wheel’ at the top of Nibshaw Lane. We also installed the benches in Sugden Park.
Our most recent project was to upgrade the main entrance to the Park with the installation of a new vehicle gate with an accessible gate to the side to allow easier access for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
